Our League / About Us

What is Out for Kicks?

Out for Kicks (OFK) is a downtown-based soccer club with more than 170 members. Our mandate is to facilitate a safe, fun and recreational environment for gay men, lesbians and their gay-friendly team mates to enjoy the game of soccer.

OFK believes in inclusiveness and diversity. We strive to reduce the barriers that have kept many queer people out of team sports. Our summer league teams are all co-ed, and we welcome players from all ages, genders and races. We match seasoned veterans with members who may never have played a team sport before. The culture is welcoming and supportive.

Player Development and Games

Our summer league consists of multiple teams that participate in skills development sessions and intra-league games at King George field in the West End and Charleson Park near Granville Island. Our 2009 season is expected to start in April and continue until October.

Community Involvement

Through vigorous fund-raising we have sent teams representing Canada to several tournaments and Gay Games throughout the world. Past OFK fundraising events include: an international tournament in Whistler, a win-a-date-contest and of course our ever-popular series of T-dances which can draw upwards of 400 people.

Out for Kicks Fact Box

We are a GLBT friendly soccer club playing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Our history traces back to The Vancouver Voltage, a gay soccer team formed in 1990 to participate in the Gay Games held that year in Vancouver.

Throughout a regular season we will play over a hundred soccer matches and practices and take part in invitational & international tournaments.

In addition to the soccer we also participate in the Vancouver pride parade and hold several fundraising events each year
